Familiar with the ‘Color of the Year’? Didn’t think there was one? Have you hear of Pantone? Pantone declares the ‘Color of the Year’.
Each year a number of colors are reviewed and a direction, if you will, is chosen. This color choice influences almost any industry involving color. Politics, pop culture, sports, technology, and social issues are just a few things that can influence the choice. Conversely, companies use the ‘Color of the Year’ to help guide designs and future products as well.
So how does this relate to you? The ‘Color of the Year’ can be found in almost any store you walk into and in a wide range of products you might purchase – clothing, decorations, paint colors, make-up, etc. It’s just a small part of what is #trending. According to Pantone, color “has always been an integral part of how a culture expresses the attitudes and emotions of the time.”
This year, 2016, while unusual, two colors were chosen as ‘Color of the Year’: Rose Quartz and Serenity.
The 2015 Color of the Year was Marsala and the 2014 color was Radiant Orchid.
