Likeable Leaders

September 29, 2016

Likeable leaders play a key part in bringing visions to life and navigating emotional intelligence will help you get there. Emotionally intelligent leaders know how to engage and inspire their teammates, partners and clients. You can practice these simple steps at home or in the workplace.

Forming Personal Connections

Likeable leaders know how to form personal, yet still professional, connections. They communicate and engage a person they are working with focused attention and always recognize that what they are connecting to is still a human being, just like him/herself.

Personality Traits

These leaders believe in others and their talents. They are approachable and stay humble. They believe that anyone on their team is valuable. They are also positive. Duties and tasks are often regarded as something they get to do and not something they have to do. In negative situations, they find the take-away and area for growth and gear up to tackle and achieve the issues at hand. Failures are to be acknowledged, learned from and then moved on from.

Generosity & Integrity

Likeable leaders are generous with their resources. If a resource or idea can make a team or team member stronger, then everyone benefits. There is a confidence that is exuded because success is shared. Trust in others is shown with action – a walk-the-walk, not just talk-the-talk. “Charisma is not so much getting people to like you as getting people to like themselves when you’re around.” (Robert Brault.)

Potential

These leaders always find a way to see potential. Beyond seeing potential within people they can see how each person can benefit a shared endeavor, like a business opportunity for example. And, to take it one step further, they have the ability to make sure others looking in also see the potential.

How are you going to exhibit your emotional intelligence this week?
